A small but beautiful farm in sunny Shropshire owned by 8000 people! Open 6 days a week with 3 free farm trails, a picnic area, farm shop, tearoom and evening restaurant. This farm is unique, pioneering and inspirational, with everything from cows and pigs, to solar panels and a composting toilet!

You may remember the national battle to save the family farm from development in 2006. A fight to raise £800,000 ensued and over 8000 members of the public now collectively own Fordhall, and that number is growing all the time. This allows Fordhall to claim the accolade of being England’s first community-owned farm.

Three waymarked trails open 6 days a week offer walks from 25 - 60 minutes. Each walk starts from a scenic picnic area and follows a different Fordhall journey such as community ownership, organic farming and Foggage!

Arthur's Restaurant serves everything from homemade cakes, to the Full English or a hot lunch. Serving food with pride and provenance; all ingredients are sourced organically or locally, with freshly ground fair trade coffee to polish it all off. Moreover, this delightful space is turned into an elegant candle lit restaurant on special occasions. Arthur's restaurant was also awarded three gold stars for its ethical operation and contribution to the community by the Sustainable Restaurant Association in 2013.

The renovated Old Dairy building breathes the farm's organic ethos, with hemp walls, sheep’s wool insulation, a biodiverse roof, pv generation, an air source heat pump and lime plasters. It is perhaps the most sustainable eatery in Shropshire!

The Farm Shop sells Fordhall's grass fed Angus beef, lamb and free range Gloucester Old Spot Pork from their butchery counter. Plus there is an extensive variety of other local and organic goods to tempt you, including vegetables, chutneys, jams, butter, juices and even organic ice cream!

The farm can also host group bookings in their function room for up to 60.Free guided tours can be booked in advance for group sizes of 10-30, as can group lunches or functions. And the best bit is that all profits are recycled back into the educational work the community trust delivers on the farm throughout the year.

There are many events held at Fordhall Farm throughout the year, ranging from summer fairs (June), family days to beer and music festivals (Sept) or Halloween frights (Oct). Plus there is parking for large private parties (day or evening) and a great children’s outdoor birthday party package.
